American Gem Society Certification Sets Us Apart
There are thousands of jewelers across the United States, and an even larger number worldwide. But a little known fact about jewelry stores is that virtually anyone can open one. The difference between Kasson Jewelers and 99% of other jewelry stores is that we are proudly members of the American Gem Society (AGS).
What is the American Gem Society, what is behind its prestige, and what does certification mean for our customers?
The American Gem Society encompasses a set of ideals and standards for the entire jewelry industry. This includes, but is not limited to: trust, integrity, loyalty, honesty, and a commitment to serve in the customers’ best interest.
Not any jewelry store can become a member of the American Gem Society. To be frank, most jewelry stores cannot, and will never be able to become members. This is because the American Gem Society will actually call on existing members – jewelry stores in Fairfield County – or jewelry stores in Connecticut — to “research” an applying jeweler in that area. If the candidate does not fully promote the AGS code of ethics, the application is denied.
If a non-AGS jeweler is grading a diamond as a G color, VS1 clarity — it is a risky buy. There is little to no legitimacy and you may be purchasing a fake piece of jewelry. At Kasson Jewelers, with the full faith and support of the American Gem Society, you can be absolutely certain to receive the full value of your investment, and that what you are being told is the absolute truth.
Alan Kasson – President and CEO of Kasson Jewelers – has been a certified gemologist appraiser by the American Gem Society for the past 20 years. Kasson Jewelers as a business has been a member for over 30 years. It is a requirement by the AGS for us to re-certify every year so that we are always at the top of our game.
Do you want to have an understanding of trust with your jeweler for years to come? Do you want to be sure that you are getting what you pay for? Then be sure your personal jeweler is a member of the most highly regarded organization in the jewelry business: the American Gem Society.
